Originating from Italy Roberto the general Manager of Cottons Shoreditch has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry. He has used his experience to continue the success of the Cottons brand by taking it to the next level, while also contributing to the success that it is today!
What inspired you to get into the hospitality industry?
Back in Italy my family had several businesses which were in hospitality. I started working for them when I was 14 and I have been in hospitality ever since! I have worked and traveled quite a bit, I used to work in Bali for a few Hotels and Bars as a Manager and I also previously worked in Malta. I have built up my experience as I love what I do.
What do you like the most about working at Cottons?
Where I used to work for several different Michelin star restaurants, I have been used to a high stressful working style where you are quite distanced from your clientele. I enjoy working at Cottons because it has a friendly atmosphere and I enjoying building a great relationship with my customers and they become part of the Cottons family.
In your opinion what is the best cocktail and food dish on the menu?
The best cocktails are: Reggae Rum Punch, Rum Old Fashioned and Daiquiri! The best dish is Jerk Chicken of course!!
How long have you been working at Cottons?
Almost 3 years.
What’s the best mocktail?
It’s actually not on the menu I made this one up it consists of Strawberries, Strawberry juice Lychee, Apple and Raspberry juice.
How have you contributed to the success of Cottons?
I first adjusted the amount of staff that we needed in total, so the restaurant runs a lot smoother, I also changed the reservation system so altogether the restaurant has become extremely successful.
What makes the food at Cottons so authentic and good?
Everything is cooked fresh by Jamaican chefs, you don’t get more authentic than that!
What are your goals going forward for Cottons?
We plan to do some renovations and layout changes which will be exciting for the future of Cottons Shoreditch.
